§ 15. Mr. J. H. Osbornasked the Minister of Labour which industries Her Majesty's Inspector of Factories has set up working parties to review the codes and tabulate the causes of accidents and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ThorntonNo such working parties have been set up. The Chief Inspector of Factories has recently set up special accident inquiries into selected factories and an inquiry into construction sites is about to begin.
§ Mr. OsbornIs the Parliamentary Secretary aware that there are many safety organisations which are not satisfied that the right causes are being recorded? Would he not agree that some of the worst causes are carelessness and the failure to use protective equipment and protective clothing?
§ Mr. ThorntonI agree that the latter are some of the important causes of accidents.
