17. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Minister of Transport whether, with a view to avoiding severe congestion, he will improve the traffic situation at the railway bridge on the A.30 at Bagshot by 1017 making an additional lane to allow traffic to run north or by widening the railway bridge.
§ Mr. Tom FraserMy Ministry's proposals and the associated proposals of the Surrey County Council for improving the traffic situation at Cricketer's Bridge were considered at a public inquiry into the necessary compulsory purchase orders. This was completed on 20th October. I cannot say more until I have received and considered the inspector's report.
Mr. Gresham CookeWhen the Minister is considering the report, will he bear in mind that my constituents say that this is one of the worst bottlenecks in the whole of the south of England, that the A.30 road could be improved at this point by the addition of one or, possibly, two tracks, and that it would be quite a feather in his cap if he were to do this?
§ Mr. FraserI shall endeavour to take into account what all the interested parties have to say about this matter.
