HC Deb 06 July 1964 vol 698 c16
16. Mr. Boyden

asked the Minister of Health how many houses owned by the hospital authorities do not conform to the standards now prescribed for a local authority house.

Mr. Braine

Such standards relate to the construction of new local authority houses. The construction of hospital houses matches these standards.

Mr. Boyden

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary knows that there are a good many hospital houses that are not really satisfactory, and should be brought up to date. Will he do something about this by circularising the boards to see that standards are more in conformity with modern trends?

Mr. Braine

My right hon. Friend has already done something about it. For existing hospitals, he has asked boards to conform within a reasonable time with the standards set out in the Housing Act.
