§ 5. Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Lord President of the Council and Minister of Science which types of marine nuclear reactor are now being studied by the Atomic Energy Authority.
§ Mr. HoggThe authority is continuing its collaborative development work on the Vulcain reactor with the Belgian Group, Belgonucleaire. In addition, they are continuing their own research on integral pressurised water reactors.
§ Mr. DigbyDoes this mean that confidence in these two types of reactor possibilities has not diminished and that we shall not have to look to a third new type to achieve what we want in marine propulsion?
§ Mr. HoggIt means that at the moment we are continuing with these and nothing else. I would not like to speculate about the future.
