§ 14. Mr. Neaveasked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will compile and published a list of all Royal Air Force personnel illegally detained in Nazi concentration camps during the last war;
(2) if he will compile and publish a list of all Army personnel illegally detained in Nazi concentration camps during the last war.
§ Mr. KirkNo, Sir. The records we have are incomplete, so that we could not province an accurate and comprehensive list. Even to provide an incomplete list would involve a wholly disproportionate amount of time and effort. In any case, I doubt whether publication would be desired by many of the persons concerned.
§ Mr. NeaveDoes not my hon. Friend think that, in view of the serious nature of the health of some persons in this category, about which evidence has been sent to the Foreign Office, and the current negotiations with the Federal German Government, the War Office should look at the matter again, in consultation with the Foreign Secretary, in order to avoid delay in the case of those who are genuine claimants, in the event of any settlement?
§ Mr. KirkSuch information as we have—which is, I am afraid, incomplete—has already been made available to the Foreign Office.
