§ 6. Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Secretary of State for Defence what flag will now be flown by his Department in 1290 view of the abolition of the three separate Service flags.
§ The Secretary of State for Defence (Mr. Peter Thorneycroft)The separate Service flags have not been abolished. The main building of the new Ministry of Defence flies the Union flag, the White Ensign and the R.A.F. Ensign. Other buildings fly the Union flag on days when flag; are generally flown.
§ Mr. DigbyI welcome that reply, but does not my right hon. Friend agree that there is something to be said for having a Ministry of Defence flag as well, and is not this an opportunity when a new design might perhaps be made?
§ Mr. ThorneycroftNo, Sir. I think there are enough flags.
