HC Deb 15 November 1963 vol 684 c488

[FOURTH DAY]

Order read for resuming adjourned debate on Question [12th November]:

That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, as follows:—

Most Gracious Sovereign,

We, Your Majesty's most dutiful and loyalsubjects, the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in Parliament assembled, beg leave to offer our humble thanks to Your Majesty for the Gracious Speech which Your Majesty has addressed to both Houses of Parliament.

Mr. Speaker

Before I propose the Question again, I should tell the House that I have selected for discussion on Monday and Tuesday the two official Opposition Amendments, that is to say, for debate on Monday the Amendment which seeks to add the words: But humbly regret that the Gracious Speech contains no proposals to deal adequately with problems of overcrowding, homelessness and slums; or to deal with profiteering in land prices, interest rates for housing purposes, or leasehold reform. and on Tuesday the Amendment which seeks to add: But humbly regret that the Gracious Speech contains no effective proposals to ensure the full utilisation of the nation's scientific resources and manpower; or to deal adequately with the problems hindering educational progress at all stages.

Question again proposed.
