HC Deb 06 March 1963 vol 673 cc518-9
Mr. Hare

I beg to move, in page 5 line 29, after "fresh", to insert "or artificially purified".

In Standing Committee, my hon. Friend the Member for Folkestone and Hythe (Mr. Costain) moved an Amendment designed to make clear that air conditioning would be allowed under this Clause. I thought then, and other hon. Members agreed, that he had made a valid case, and I said that I would like to consider wording to suit the purpose he had in mind.

I think that the addition of the three words in the Amendment makes perfectly clear that the use of air conditioning will be lawful. The Amendment makes clear, also—this is important—that the conditioned air must be purified and that the recirculation of stale air will not do. I am sure that the House will agree that this is reasonable.

Amendment agreed to.
