28. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the President of the Board of Trade to what people, outside the Government service, the findings of his departmental committee on resale price maintenance have been made known.
§ Mr. GreenThe results of this inquiry have been made known only to Ministers of the Crown and their Departments.
Mr. Gresham CookeIs my hon. Friend aware that a noble Lord from 1123 another place stated in a letter to The Times that informed opinion was well aware of the findings of this committee? Does not my hon. Friend rather deplore a statement such as that, since this departmental committee was, as he says, confined to members of his own staff?
§ Mr. GreenI do not think that it is for me to comment upon such reports. Perhaps my hon. Friend and the House would care to read my reply. The fact is that the results have been made known only to Ministers of the Crown and their Departments. Others may perhaps guess at them.
§ Mr. JayCan the hon. Gentleman tell us whether the Government propose now either to make known this report to the House or alternatively to make a statement on what Government policy is, or both?
§ Mr. GreenMy right hon. Friend is now considering the Report. I think that it would be premature for me to answer that question on his behalf.
