HC Deb 02 July 1963 vol 680 c191
41. Mrs. Castle

asked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he has received from Lord Poole on the need to extend to Blackburn the type of financial aid received by development areas; and what reply he has sent to him.

Mr. Erroll

None, Sir.

Mrs. Castle

Is the President of the Board of Trade aware that a few days ago Lord Poole promised Alderman Mottershead of Blackburn that he would raise with the right hon. Gentleman the problems of areas like Blackburn which cannot get financial aid to clear away derelict mills and to provide sites for new industries? Am I to take it from that reply that Lord Poole has not fulfilled his promise?

Mr. Erroll

I am not answerable for what Lord Poole may or may not do. What I have been asked is whether I have received representations from him. I have answered to the effect that I have not received representations. I expect that they are on their way.
