HC Deb 04 February 1963 vol 671 cc32-4
37. Mr. Pentland

asked the Minister of Labour the age limit fixed by his Department for unemployed disabled workers who wish to be considered for employment in factories operating under Government control.

Mr. Whitelaw

It is not the practice of our Department to impose an age limit on any worker who is suitable for submission to any vacancies, whether in factories operating under Government control or otherwise.

Mr. Pentland

Do I take it that the Minister's control does not cover Royal Ordnance Factories?

Mr. Whitelaw

The hon. Member may have in mind an unfortunate misunderstanding between our local office and the Royal Ordnance Factory about the conditions of a certain vacancy. I am sorry that this happened. The man concerned will be sent forward for consideration. That, I think, is what has worried the hon. Member.
