§ 28. Sir J. Maitlandasked the Minister of Education if he will state the number and amount of grants made to Lindsey County Council for youth services building in 1961, 1962, and 1963; and what grants are proposed for the immediate future.
§ Sir E. BoyleAs the Answer contains a number of figures, I will, with permission, circulate it in the Official Report.
§ Sir J. MaitlandIs it not a fact that these figures will show that the local authority concerned is getting less than its proper share? Will my right hon. Friend comment on that?
§ Sir E. BoyleWith respect, I do not think that that is true. The total allocation for Lincolnshire (Lindsey) over the period 1960–65 is about the average of the whole country on the basis of the youth population. I do not think that it is getting less than its fair share.
§ Sir C. OsborneIs not my right hon. Friend aware that those of us who represent Lindsey are interested not in the figure for 1965–66, but the figure for this year, and that we think that we are being treated meanly?
§ Sir E. BoyleThe figures show that four projects costing £23,000 are in this year's programme and that for next year 1431 one project costing £19,000 has already been included, and I am considering a second.
§ The information is as follows:
§ County Council projects are not specifically grant-aided. Youth service projects in the area of the Lincolnshire (Lindsey) local education authority have been included in building programmes as follows:
1961–62–3 | costing | £25,000. |
1962–63–7 | costing | £56,000. |
1963–64–4 | costing | £23,000. |
§ One project costing £19,000 has already been included in the 1964–65 programme, and I am considering an appeal to add a second project.
