§ 2. Mr. Worsleyasked the Minister of Health what was the estimated life, at the time of their construction, of the huts now used as geriatric wards at St. John's Hospital, Keighley.
§ Mr. BraineNo such estimate can be traced.
§ Mr. WorsleyIs my hon. Friend aware that these huts were erected as a temporary provision during the war? Does not he agree that they should be replaced as soon as possible?
§ Mr. BraineThere is no reason why any definite term should be given to the life of buildings of this type, provided that they have been properly erected and maintained. Since the appointed day a modern heating system has been installed. Nevertheless, I agree with my hon. Friend that in a matter of this kind we must look to the future, and I am writing to him.
§ 3. Mr. Worsleyasked the Minister of Health how long it is intended to use as geriatric wards the huts at St. John's Hospital, Keighley.
§ Mr. BraineUntil replaced in a new district general hospital.
§ Mr. WorsleyYes, but can my hon. Friend tell me when this will be?
§ Mr. BraineI would prefer my hon. Friend to wait until he has seen my letter.
