HC Deb 01 April 1963 vol 675 cc42-3
The Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs (Sir Keith Joseph)

I beg to move, in page 23, to leave out lines 4 to 6.

This is in compliance with an undertaking by the Parliamentary Secretary in Committee that Amendments would be introduced to put it at the discretion of the Minister whether the costs of inquiries should or should not be recoverable from the local authorities concerned. In this case the inquiry would be as to whether or not a road should be a metropolitan road, and the Amendment allows the Minister of Transport in this case the discretion whether or not to pass on the costs of the inquiry.

Amendment agreed to.

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
