§ 17. Sir T. Mooreasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the formation of a committee to consider the problem of ex-prisoners of professional status who find difficulty, on release, in returning to their former professions or occupations, or in finding other employment suitable to their educational or academic standing; and what assistance he will give this committee in their work.
§ Mr. Fletcher-CookeWe know of proposals for the formation of a private committee for this purpose, and we shall be happy to consider any requests for advice or assistance which the committee may make.
§ Sir T. MooreMy hon. and learned Friend will no doubt appreciate that the idea behind this scheme is to establish an organisation of insurance companies, employers, and the like, to underwrite the reliability of such discharged prisoners so as to give them an opportunity and a chance of getting employment in the professions which they previously possibly adorned.
§ Mr. Fletcher-CookeIt sounds a laudable object.
