HC Deb 03 May 1962 vol 658 cc1173-4
2. Mr. Worsley

asked the Minister of Education when he expects to receive the reports of the two working parties set up to study the technical implications of certain of the recommendations of the Roberts Report.

Sir D. Eccles

I received last February the report of the working party on inter-library co-operation, and I hope to receive shortly the report of the working party on the basic requirements for an efficient public library service.

Mr. Worsley

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him whether he can give any indication at all when he will act on these reports, because of the feeling of uncertainty in the library service until the decisions are taken?

Sir D. Eccles

I wish that I could answer that, but the fact is, as my hon. Friend knows, that a very large number of local authorities of different sizes are involved, and one has to proceed very carefully.
