§ 14. Mr. Darlingasked the Minister of Labour when he intends to publish the results of his inquiry into the distribution of workpeople's industrial earnings.
§ Mr. P. ThomasMy right hon. Friend hopes to publish the first analyses in the April, 1961, issue of the Ministry of Labour Gazette. Further analyses will be published during the summer.
§ Mr. DarlingIt is gratifying to know that progress is at last being made in this matter, but does the hon. Gentleman realise that the cautionary figures, that will appear to correct and balance the figures of earnings that are now published, will not arrive in time for the debates that take place this week? Will he, therefore, warn his right hon. and hon. Friends who may be speaking in these debates this week and make sure that they do not use the average figures of earnings that are now published in the Ministry of Labour Gazette as an accurate indication of living standards in this country?
§ Mr. ThomasI am sure that my right hon. and hon. Friends will take note of what the hon. Gentleman has said.
