HC Deb 07 November 1960 vol 629 c642
37. Mr. Mayhew

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps he has taken to prevent overlapping between the Central Office of Information, the British Broadcasting Corporation and the Overseas Departments in the production of sound broadcasting material for overseas.

Dr. Hill

Machinery exists for this purpose. None the less, in the light of the Select Committee's recent Report, it is being reviewed yet again.

Mr. Mayhew

I recall that the right hon. Gentleman expressed himself as satisfied with the previous machinery. Can we be quite certain that it will not prove to be the same machinery that he is now starting to reinstitute?

Dr. Hill

No, we must seek from time to time to avoid any unnecessary overlapping. We are looking at the machinery again to see that overlapping does not exist.
