§ 40. Mr. H. Hyndasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what notification is given to neighbouring farmers when an outbreak of fowl pest takes place.
§ Mr. John HarePoultry keepers within half a mile of the outbreak are 917 visited and the movement of poultry within that area is restricted for at least 28 days. Where there is considered to be a serious risk of spread, the restrictions may be applied to a wider area. Notice is then given through the Press and the B.B.C.
§ Mr. HyndDoes the Minister think that half a mile is sufficient? Whose duty is it to visit people within the half-mile?
§ Mr. HareWe have found that this is a practical arrangement. It is the duty of my Department to make the necessary arrangements for neighbouring farms to be visited.
