§ 7. Mr. Liptonasked the Secretary of State for War what complaints he has received about the obstruction to traffic caused by the march of the Guards picket to and from the Bank of England.
§ Mr. SoamesNone, Sir.
§ Mr. LiptonWill the right hon. Gentleman look at Question No. 3, which indicates that the hon. Member for Shrewsbury (Mr. Langford-Holt) had some complaint to make about the obstruction caused by the Guards marching through this Royal Park? Has not the time come to stop all this nonsense of troops marching from the Wellington Barracks, the Knightsbridge Barracks, or one of the other Guards barracks, to the Bank of England? If the Bank of England has not any confidence in its burglar alarms or in the City of London Police, does not the Minister think that the Bank should send a van along to take the men to the premises.
§ Mr. SoamesNo, Sir.
§ Mr. LiptonIn view of the unsatisfactory nature of that Answer, I beg to give notice that I hope to raise the matter in the course of the debate on the Army Estimates.
