HC Deb 03 March 1960 vol 618 cc1405-6
22. Mr. D. Smith

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will consider bringing formula junior racing cars into the countervailing subsidy scheme of the Board of Trade, whereby the Purchase Tax paid on other classes of racing car is refunded, so as to encourage the production of such cars.

Mr. J. Rodgers

My right hon. Friend has this matter under consideration.

Mr. Smith

While thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him to hear in mind that, unless something is done, this particular manufacturer of this type of car will have to cease production, which will have an adverse effect on the motor racing community as a whole?

Mr. Rodgers

I will certainly bear my hon. Friend's remarks in mind, but it would be better for me not to comment while the application is under consideration.
