HC Deb 28 July 1960 vol 627 cc1854-5
35. Mr. Fletcher

asked the Minister of Education if he will now sanction the rebuilding of St. Mary's School. Islington, on the site approved by the London County Cauncil, in view of the fact that both the London Diocesan Board of Education and the London County Council for some years recognised the rebuilding of this school as a high priority.

Sir D. Eccles

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 30th November last. The position is unchanged.

Mr. Fletcher

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that there is a very strong case for the rebuilding of this school, which recently celebrated its half centenary and which has a high sense of frustration about the continued delays in dealing with it?

Sir D. Eccles

I have great admiration for the work of the school in very difficult circumstances, and I hope that before long it will be considered to have a high enough priority to come into a programme.
