§ 22. Mr. Liptonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of the continuing shortage of butter, if he will make a further statement on current imports of butter and on the action he is taking to increase supplies.
§ Mr. John HareThe seasonal increase in the rate of imports from New Zealand and Australia has now begun, and supplies continue to arrive from North America. I am glad to say that shipments on the way from Australia and New Zealand alone amount to over 37,300 tons.
§ Mr. LiptonDoes the hon. Gentleman think this will result in any decrease in the present exorbitant prices being charged for butter?
§ Mr. HareSurely the hon. Member is aware that already there has been quite a change in market prices in the last few days.
