§ 28 and 29. Mr. Manuelasked the President of the Board of Trade (1) the total cost of site preparation and servicing of Kilwinning Industrial Estate; (2) the number of people who are employed at the Kilwinning Industrial Estate.
§ Mr. MaudlingThe cost of site preparation and the provision of services on this estate was £81,251. As there is only one firm on the estate, I am not at liberty to give details of the numbers employed.
§ Mr. ManuelIs the President of the Board of Trade aware that very few are employed on this estate in relation to the capital outlay, and in relation to the number of unemployed at Kilwinning? Is he now prepared to ensure 845 that industry is attracted to that estate, which can take many more factories, particularly in view of the lamentable complacency shown by his Department with regard to this estate over many years?
§ Mr. MaudlingI do not think that either party has ever proposed to take steps to order industry to set up factories in particular areas.
§ Mr. SpeakerMr. Dodds.
§ Mr. Manuel rose—
§ Mr. SpeakerDoes the hon. Member rise to a point of order?
§ Mr. ManuelYes, Sir. My point of order is that I had two separate Questions on the Order Paper. The President of the Board of Trade has taken it upon himself to telescope them, and I want to know whether I may ask two supplementary questions to clear up the point I have in mind.
§ Mr. SpeakerI am afraid that the hon. Member cannot on this occasion, because I have called the next Question.
