23. Mr. Strauss

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will now state when the scheme for the testing of road vehicles will come into operation.

Mr. Watkinson

I shall be circulating draft Regulations within the next week or two. When I have considered any comments which may be received, I shall be in a position to announce the date on which the scheme will come into operation.

Mr. Strauss

Is there any reason to believe that there will be any further delay in respect of the last date on which the right hon. Gentleman said that he hoped to start this scheme—that was in the summer—in view of the many delays there have been in the past?

Mr. Watkinson

The scheme is still on the: schedule which I mentioned to the right hon. Gentleman last time he asked the Question.
