HC Deb 23 July 1959 vol 609 cc1487-8
1. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the President of the Board of Trade what further action has been taken to introduce more industrial capacity within the City of Stoke-on-Trent and in North Staffordshire; what are the prospects for the municipal industrial sites, in particular the Newstead and Stoke sites; and to what extent consultations have taken place over the need for industrial development with the City of Stoke-on-Trent.

The President of the Board of Trade (Sir David Eccles)

The Board of Trade has brought the facilities available in North Staffordshire to the attention of a number of industrialists. Two firms are starting small projects there, though not on the Newstead or Stoke sites. The Stoke-on-Trent City Council has not asked for any consultations.

Mr. Ellis Smith

Will the President of the Board of Trade ask his regional officers to get in touch with the city council officers on this matter?

Sir D. Eccles

Yes, I will.
