§ 35. Mr. Patrick Maitlandasked the Postmaster-General how many vacant lines are now available at the telephone exchange at Douglas, Lanarkshire.
§ Mr. K. ThompsonThirty-two, including 11 earmarked for applications on hand.
§ Mr. MaitlandCan my hon. Friend say whether he would be able, at short notice, substantially to increase the availability of telephones there, in view of the fact that I have received two inquiries this week from firms which might be willing to come to Douglas? Will he give every possible assistance if such inquiries "come to the boil" and result in a satisfactory project?
§ Mr. ThompsonYes; our present belief is that we shall be able to meet reasonable forseeable demands. We will certainly keep a watch on the situation and be ready to help my hon. Friend if at all possible.
