HC Deb 08 July 1959 vol 608 cc1347-8
34. Mr. Gower

asked the Postmaster-General how many applications for private and business telephones are now outstanding in the borough of Barry; and how long a time will elapse before all these applications are satisfied.

Mr. K. Thompson

Thirty-nine private and 22 business applications are on the waiting list; in addition, 33 others are under inquiry or are in course of being met. New cables are being laid to cater for these applications and new demand, and I hope that nearly all those at present waiting will have telephone service in about 15 months. During the past 12 months, 217 new telephones were connected.
