§ 44. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now make a further statement on the site for the proposed new nylon factory, indicating the prospects of its being located in areas of the county of Aberdeen, contiguous to the city of Aberdeen.
§ Sir D. EcclesAs the hon. and learned Member will recall, I told him in November last that the firm has already informed the Lord Provost with regret that Aberdeen is not suitable.
§ Mr. HughesDoes the right hon. Gentleman realise that one of the obstacles to that factory coming to Aberdeen was said to be that 100 acres of flat ground could not be found within the confines of the city? Is he aware that 100 acres of flat ground can be found immediately outside the city? Will he bring that fact to the attention of the company with a view to inducing it to bring in the factory now?
§ Sir D. EcclesThe company probably made a very careful survey, and there were probably many reasons which led to its decision.
