§ 7. Mr. K. Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what new factor arose between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on 20th January which enabled the large-scale security operations in South-West Cyprus to be called off.
§ Mr. J. AmeryNone, Sir. As my right hon. Friend explained on 29th January, the operation ended according to plan.
§ Mr. RobinsonWhile not wishing to say anything which might disturb the harmony which has arrived at last in this unhappy affair, may I ask the hon. Gentleman if he will really try to clear up this mystery? At 3 o'clock on the afternoon of 26th January, the Colonial Secretary said that these operations could not be called off. At 6 o'clock they were called off. Is there no communication whatever between the Colonial Office and Nicosia?
