§ 14. Mrs. Castleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will allow African members of the Kenya Legislative Council to visit the Hola Detention Camp, in Kenya.
§ Mr. AmeryI would refer the hon. Member to my hon. Friend's reply to the hon. Member for Eton and Slough (Mr. Brockway) on 3rd July, 1958.
§ Mrs. CastleIs the hon. Gentleman aware that among innumerable letters on other matters that I have received from detention camps in Kenya, I have had letters from the Hola detainees which point out that some of them, who were tried and given two-year sentences eight years ago, are still being detained on what they say are false allegations? They ask either that they should be brought before a court of law or that, at least, they should have the right to see their own Kenya M.P.s. Will not the Government do something about this scandal?
