HC Deb 10 February 1959 vol 599 cc980-1
15. Sir J. Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will circulate more widely than to housing committees and their officers the new booklet entitled, "Designing for Safety in the Home", and, in particular, circulate it to architects in private practice, to gas boards and to electricity officials.

Mr. J. N. Browne

My right hon. Friend is anxious that this booklet should be widely read. It has been put on sale by Her Majesty's Stationery Office—price 1s. 3d.—and can also be obtained from main newsagents and booksellers. My right hon. Friend hopes that the publicity in the general Press and trade journals and on television will draw public attention to it. Copies have been sent to the Gas and Electricity authorities in Scotland and to other public bodies interested in housing.

Sir J. Duncan

Will my hon. Friend congratulate the staff which prepared this excellent booklet, and will he see that film strips are made of it so that they may be shown in cinemas or on television if necessary?

Mr. Browne

I thank my hon. Friend and will look into the suggestion made in the latter part of his supplementary question.
