HC Deb 09 December 1959 vol 615 cc500-1
28. Mr. Kershaw

asked the Postmaster-General when it is proposed that the new post office in Tetbury will be completed.

Miss Pike

In 1963.

Mr. Kershaw

Is my hon. Friend aware that that statement will be received with dismay by the people of Tetbury? Is she aware that a large part of the most valuable buildings in the centre of the town is held by her Department at the moment, producing no rates and "no nothing"? Will she press on with this matter a good deal quicker than the Department is doing at the moment?

Miss Pike

I am sorry that at the moment it is not possible to start any earlier. Other more urgent things must take priority, on the limited capital that we can invest in buildings.
