HC Deb 08 December 1959 vol 615 c220
38. Mr. Hoy

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of the road programme planned for this year has now been completed; and how many miles of road this represents.

Mr. Maclay

Apart from smaller schemes, road schemes planned to start in one year are not normally completed until some time later. The Roads (Scotland) Vote for 1959–60 provided for the authorisation of road schemes which will cost the Exchequer approximately £7 million. The amount authorised up to 30th November was approximately £6 million and represents work on about 50 miles of road.
