HC Deb 30 April 1959 vol 604 c1448
22. Mr. Fitch

asked the Minister of Education if he is aware that the Professional Board of the School of Education of Manchester University has passed a resolution deploring the way in which he has so far ignored the functions of area training organisations in the preparation of detailed proposals for the expansion of training colleges, and expressed its opinion that before any plans were announced regarding the future expansion of teacher training facilities he should consult the appropriate area training organisations; and, in view of the fact that these complaints are justified, whether he will undertake in future to consult such organisations on this matter.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

I am aware of this resolution, which was not endorsed by the delegacy of the School of Education. I have not, in fact, ignored the area training organisations in the way suggested in the Question, and I believe the Professional Board would now acknowledge this.
