§ 16. Mr. Healeyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what extent it is Her Majesty's Government's policy to permit the supply of British arms to the Government of Iraq.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydI have nothing to add to the reply given to the hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Mr. Swingler) on 2nd March by my hon. Friend the Minister of State.
§ Mr. HealeyIs the Foreign Secretary aware that there have been widespread Press reports that the British Government are still exporting arms to Iraq? As the Iraq Government are much more likely to use those arms to fight for Communism rather than against it, does not that strengthen the case for trying to make an agreement on the supply of arms to all countries in the Middle East?
§ Mr. LloydIf the hon. Member reads again the Answer given on 2nd March and also the one given on 18th February by my hon. Friend the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, he will see certain matters which bear on his Question. I have really nothing to add today.
