HC Deb 08 April 1959 vol 603 c199
48. Mr. Moss

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he has now considered whether to impose a speed limit on the whole or part of the A.47 trunk road from the City of Birmingham boundary to Bacon's End, in view of the representations made to him by the hon. Member for Meriden; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nugent

Yes, Sir. The required public notice of intention to make a further portion of this stretch of trunk road subject to the 30 m.p.h. speed limit will shortly be given. The effect would be to make restrictions continuous from the Birmingham City boundary to Hurst Lane. My right hon. Friend is not satisfied that any restriction is needed beyond this point. I am writing more fully to the hon. Member in reply to his representations.
