HC Deb 18 November 1958 vol 595 c1004
38. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of and names of boards, councils, authorities and other public or quasi-public bodies which function in Scotland to advise Ministers, excepting local government authorities and Government Departments.

Mr. N. Macpherson

I assume that the hon. Member has in mind standing bodies whose primary functions include the giving of advice to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State. I am placing in the Library a list of these bodies.

Mr. Rankin

In the meantime, can the hon. Member give us the number? Is he aware that I shall study the list with great care and consider carefully my next step?

Mr. Macpherson

Yes. As for the first part of the hon. Gentleman's supplementary question, the number is seventy-four.
