HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 c372
35. Mr. Hayman

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what steps he is taking to preserve for the Cornish Gliding and Flying Club the facilities they at present enjoy at Perranporth Airfield which are in jeopardy through the decision to sell the airfield.

Mr. Neave

We are in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air on this matter.

Mr. Hayman

Will the hon. Gentleman do his best to persuade the Secretary of State for Air to postpone the final date for the submission of tenders, which is next Monday?

Mr. Neave

As the hon. Member has said, tenders will be opened on 17th November, but it would not be proper for me to say more than that. However, I will take account of what the hon. Member has said.

Mr. G. Wilson

Is my hon. Friend aware that some of the tenders which have already gone in provide for the continuance of the gliding club?
