HC Deb 21 May 1958 vol 588 c1285
27. Mr. Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether a firm decision can now be made regarding the provision of a new headquarters building for 1341, Thames Estuary Squadron, Air Training Corps, at Thundersley, Essex.

Mr. C. I. Orr-Ewing

Yes, Sir. We have decided that a timber prefabricated building should be provided. We are asking the County Association to invite tenders and arrange for the necessary site work.

Mr. Braine

Is my hon. Friend aware that this is a long and tragic story of muddle and delay, that this decision was taken seven months ago, and yet there has been no progress? Can he say when these headquarters will be completed, because the squadron is operating in very difficult conditions?

Mr. Orr-Ewing

I agree with my hon. Friend that it has taken rather a long time, but my right hon. Friend will be replying in detail to the points made in the letter which my hon. Friend wrote to him some three weeks ago.
