HC Deb 26 June 1958 vol 590 cc581-2
7. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade the weight and value in money annually of the haggis exported from Scotland during each of the last 10 years indicating the countries to which it has been exported.

Sir D. Eccles

Haggis is not separately distinguished in the trade returns.

Mr. Hughes

Does not it deserve to be? Will the Minister state what his plans are for extending the export of this satisfying and nourishing food, in the interests of the peace of the world?

Sir D. Eccles

I agree that this delicacy is important, but I have always understood that Scotsmen abroad did the advertising very well.
