HC Deb 16 July 1958 vol 591 c1216
15. Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is now in a position to indicate when the barracks at Maryhill will be given up.

The Under-Secretary of State and Financial Secretary for War (Mr. Julian Amery)

No, Sir. The barracks will continue to be used as an infantry depot until some time next year. I am not yet in a position to say how long after that it will be before the other units in Maryhill Barracks can be moved elsewhere.

Mr. Hannan

Will the Minister keep in mind the importance of this site to the local authority, and will he give an assurance that he will keep the authority informed as to developments?

Mr. Amery

Yes, indeed.
