HC Deb 16 July 1958 vol 591 cc1216-7
16. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Secretary of State for War what changes are to take place in his Department in consequence of the proposed change in the organisation of the Ministry of Defence.

Mr. Soames

None, Sir.

Mr. Shinwell

Does that mean that the right hon. Gentleman is completely satisfied with the new conception for the Ministry of Defence, and is there no truth in the report that he was about to resign because of these changes?

Mr. Soames

As regards the right hon. Gentleman's last remark, can only imagine that the wish was father to the thought.
