§ 23. Mr. Malcolm MacPherson
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of Government scholarships awarded to Africans from Tanganyika for study at university level during 1957, and the number of these awarded for the study of law.
§ Mr. MacPherson
In view of the small proportion given to the study of law and the small number of applicants for such scholarships, will the hon. Gentleman do all he can to encourage more Africans to study law in view of the desirability of the courts of the Territory being staffed by Africans.
§ Dr. Summerskill
Can the hon. Gentleman say how many of these scholarships were for the study of medicine?
