HC Deb 07 July 1958 vol 591 cc26-7
46. Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what guarantees of military aid in the event of attack on her territory have been given to Yugoslavia by Her Majesty's Government by way of treaty obligations or otherwise.

Commander Noble

Our obligations to Yugoslavia, as to other member States, are governed by the Charter of the United Nations.

Mr. Parker

Does not the right hon. and gallant Gentleman think that it would be best to make absolutely clear what our position would be to prevent this thing happening?

Commander Noble

Our position is quite clear with regard to the United Nations. It would not be wise to speculate on hypothetical questions at this moment.
