§ 28. Mr. Pageasked the Minister of Health, as representing the Lord President of the Council, whether he is now able to indicate an early date for the publication of the Report from the Medical Research Council on the relation of drink and road accidents.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithThe report on the experimental work upon the effect of alcohol on the skill of drivers of motor vehicles has now been considered by the Joint Committee appointed by the Medical Research Council and the Road 25 Research Board, under whose auspices the work was carried out. It is at present undergoing revision and will be published as soon as possible.
§ Mr. PageHas my right hon. and learned Friend seen the fairly wide speculation in the Press on the gravity of this Report and the connection between drink and road accidents? Is he in consultation with the Minister of Transport and others with a view to bringing forward some constructive proposals?
§ Mr. Walker-SmithI do not take my assessment of the contents of the official reports altogether from the newspapers, but as to the latter part of my hon. Friend's supplementary, the Report has been transmitted by my noble and learned Friend to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport.
