HC Deb 01 July 1958 vol 590 c1057
18. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement regarding his plans for the improvement of Eyemouth Harbour.

Lord John Hope

My right hon. Friend hopes that a report on the investigation made by the Hydraulics Research Station of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research will shortly be available. It will then be for the harbour trustees to consider, in the light of the report, what proposals to make to my right hon. Friend.

Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

While thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask if he will give an assurance that he will do all that he can to speed up the improvements to this harbour which are being cried out for by the fishermen who use it? Much more use could be made of Eyemouth Harbour if it were improved.

Lord John Hope

I think that we shall be much further on when we get this Report, which will come out very soon.
