HC Deb 19 February 1958 vol 582 c1189
20. Mr. George Craddock

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he is taking to propose at the United Nations that Cyprus be maintained in a demilitarised condition under the custody of a United Nations expeditionary force establishment.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

None, Sir.

Mr. Craddock

I regret the great strain imposed upon the Minister in answering the Question. Does not he consider that the time has come when an independent United Nations expeditionary force could help to heal this continuing sore in international relations?

Mr. Lloyd

That suggestion would not be acceptable to any of the parties concerned.

Mr. Craddock

In view of the unsatisfactory answer of the Foreign Secretary, I beg to give notice that I shall raise the matter on the Adjournment.
