HC Deb 06 May 1957 vol 569 cc628-9
40. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Pay master-General when he proposes to accept the Central Electricity Authority's proposals for giving to protected persons the benefits of the Local Government Superannuation Act, 1953.

Mr. Maudling

These proposals are still under consideration.

Dame Irene Ward

May I have an assurance from my right hon. Friend that, in doing the decent thing, when he has had time really to consider the matter, he will not be stopped by any other member of the Cabinet? When can we expect a favourable answer, because I am rather tired of having to wait for so long?

Mr. Maudling

I am sorry that I cannot predict when the answer will finally be given, but I am sure that if it is long delayed we shall be hearing again from my hon. Friend the Member for Tynemouth (Dame Irene Ward).
