HC Deb 25 March 1957 vol 567 cc783-4
27. Mr. Simmons

asked the Minister of Health what is the amount payable to the 100 per cent. disabled civilian war injured of the 1914–18 war; to what supplementary allowances equivalent to those payable to the war injured civilians of the Second World War they are entitled; and if he will arrange for all civilian war injured to be the responsibility of one department.

Mr. Vosper

The highest weekly rate of ex gratia award is now £2; no special allowances are included in the awards. The last part of the Question is not for me to answer.

Mr. Simmons

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that it is most unsatisfactory that these people are paid much less than those similarly injured in the Second World War?

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Answer, I beg to give notice that I shall, individually or jointly, raise this question on the Adjournment.
